Former England coach Harry Redknapp has confirmed that he supports Jose Mourinho to sign Real Madrid's Gareth Bale in the upcoming winter transfer market.

Tottenham announced earlier on Wednesday that Jose Mourinho had been hired just hours after the decision to sack Mauricio Pochettino due to poor results.

Mourinho moved on more than one occasion to sign Gareth Bale when he was coaching Manchester United in the summer of 2017, but the player's financial demands and Real Madrid aborted the deal.

The Welsh winger is expected to leave the Real Madrid squad when the next transfer window opens in January, with Gareth Bale losing support from all officials because of his actions.

Redknapp urges Mourinho to add Gareth Bale to Tottenham's squad.

Harry Redknapp, who coached Gareth Bale, confirmed that the 30-year-old's return to Tottenham would be a huge boost for the team, particularly at the attacking level, given his experience.

"What a deal that will add so much strength to the team, signing with him would make everyone stand by him right away, the fans will love it," Harry Redknapp was quoted as saying by Talk Sport.
