Matteo Kovacic, Chelsea's English player, said that his time inside the walls of Real Madrid was both wonderful and difficult because he had a narrow margin to participate in the matches.

Kovacic joined Chelsea in the summer of 2018 on loan for one season, coming from Real Madrid, before the English club officially signed with the player for final during the last summer transfers.

Kovacic is happy to join Chelsea after a difficult period at Real Madrid:

"My years at Real Madrid have been fantastic but it has been difficult and complicated, everything has happened so fast in my career, I spent three difficult years in Madrid because I was missing the continuity of play," Kovacic said in remarks quoted by the Spanish newspaper As.

"I enjoyed being in Madrid and won three Champions League titles, but Chelsea came in the most important moments of my career, it was the most important change and I am comfortable with that," he said.

He continued: "I go through this season differently, and I play in the middle of the field as well, but it is different, it is my role to open spaces for others, it is a big new force added to me, I am very enjoying it, and Frank told me that I am the best person who can play this role."

"We are on the right track, the team is now ready for any match with the same energy and passion, and Frank Lampard is dealing with us in a great way on and off the pitch," the Croatian international concluded.
