Eden Hazard rejected Bayern Munich in favour of Real Madrid transfer

Eden Hazard rejected the prospect to hitch Bayern Munich before signing for Real Madrid last summer, consistent with his former teammate Rob Green.

The Belgian attacker made a mega-money switch to the Bernabeu earlier this year after winning one last trophy, the Europa League, for the Blues under Maurizio Sarri.

Green, who previously discussed his confrontations with Sarri last season, told the Athletic “Eden was one among the strongest characters within the room and positively the simplest player.

“I remember the 4-1 win over Cardiff early [September 2018]. We had ten players playing Sarri-ball and Eden doing whatever he wanted.

“He scored a hat-trick and was named man of the match. Sarri praised him together of the simplest within the world afterward. But he’d done nothing he was told to try to to.

“I was with Hilario [Chelsea’s goalkeeping coach] behind the dugout laughing. you'll come up together with your rigid plans but if you've got a man who is that good, just get him the ball, like for the West Ham goal in April where he ran through them.”

By the top of the season, it had been already documented Hazard would be leaving Stamford Bridge, with Real Madrid widely assumed to be his destination.

However, there have been other options for Chelsea’s star man, including Bayern Munich.

“Eden ruled it out,” Green explained.

“He was like ‘I’m not going there because my brother Thorgan is playing in Germany. it might become Eden Hazard and his brother’.

“He was saying that his brother is often referred to as Thorgan Hazard there instead of only be mentioned as Eden Hazard’s brother.

“That could encounter as slightly of arrogance but it had been a magnanimous thing to try to to.”
