Real Madrid plan to return Martin Odegaard and Ashraf Hakimi next summer

Real Madrid has decided that they're going to bring back both Martin Odegaard and Achraf Hakimi, who are spending the 2019-2020 season on loan with Real Sociedad and Borussia Dortmund respectively. Their current clubs would like to stay them both past this season but Madrid wants them to compete for an opportunity to start during the 2020-2021 campaign, consistent with a report from AS.

Odegaard has said repeatedly this season that he would like to remain with Real Sociedad for an additional year which was the deal agreed between Real Madrid and therefore the Basque club. However, AS’s report mentions that the great relationship between the 2 sides will make it very easy for Madrid to recover Odegaard as soon as next summer. It won’t be easy for the Norwegian talent to start for Zidane’s team next season unless the Frenchman deploys him on the proper wing, so maybe it might add up for him to spend another year with Real Sociedad.

On the opposite hand, Achraf seems to be quite able to compete with Dani Carvajal for the starting spot in Real Madrid’s right-back, which means that Alvaro Odriozola’s days within the club are numbered. Achraf has been impressive for Dortmund and Carvajal hasn’t been in propriety lately, so it'll be interesting to ascertain their competition for the starting job.
