Arteta gives ceballos new hope to continue at Arsenal

Mikel Arteta refused to consider Dani Ceballos' future at Arsenal finished at the Emirates Stadium and demanded that he fight for a return to the starting line-up.

Commenting on rumors that Dani Ceballos was out of the club in the winter transfer market, the Arsenal coach said: "When I got to the club he wasn't here. He was recovering from an injury in Madrid for a month and when he returned he continued to recover."

"He's trying to get back in shape, I haven't seen him much because he's barely been training with us for a week," Arteta said.

"I have heard these rumors about him, but I have nothing to comment on," said the Spanish coach in remarks quoted by Marca newspaper. He must be fit and in form and fight for his position. After that, I will have to choose the best players in my squad."

The former Manchester City manager arrived at Arsenal after an excellent start to Ceballos' season with Arsenal, but his departure in the last two months due to a muscle injury has left him unable to be available for even a minute after returning from injury.

Ceballos has moved to Arsenal since the beginning of the season on loan from Real Madrid and has managed to score two goals and make two goals in 15 games with the London club.
