Lucky kicks smile for Real Madrid

Real Madrid clout the Spanish Super Cup title after beating Atlético Madrid 4-1 after the original and extra time ended in a negative draw, during the match hosted by the Stadium of The Radioactive Jewel in Saudi Arabia.

Real Madrid started the game strongly and was the dominant side and opened the scoring in the fifth minute through Casemiro who played the ball with his left foot in Oblak's hands.

Luka Modric tried in the ninth minute to open the scoring for Real Madrid but his shot came in the hands of the Atletico goalkeeper.

Unlike the royal control, Sergio Ramos missed and passed the ball to João Félix but the latter did not take advantage of the gift and played it to the right of Courtois, only minutes passed and Alvaro Morata hit a powerful ball but also passed next to the keeper.

The cuff returned to Real Madrid but without the seriousness of the fact only from a try by Ferland Mendy and a shot in the tight corner found its way into Oblak's hand.

Substitute Rodríg, Atletico Madrid were almost stunned in the final moments of the second half, had it not been for the brilliance of Oblak, who stopped the Brazilian star's shot.

The final moments of the original time also saw a tricky shot from Atlético's Thomas Partey, who kicked a free-kick straight into the goal while everyone waited for the occasional inside the box.

Courtois was alert and took the ball away at the last minute from the goal line before the referee blew the whistle at the end of the second half.

Courtois continued to shine at the start of the first half after the substitute Vitolo's shot was removed.

In the extra second half, Morata kicked a scissor, but Courtois countered the ball with his left foot and took it out into a corner.

Oblak, who spoiled a dangerous attack for Real Madrid, countered Modric's shot before another from Mariano, before the defence intervened and took the ball away. 

Tonight's champion Federico Valverde was sent off in the 115th minute after Morata blocked the goal.

Courtois continued to shine after the incident of Korea, which changed course to go towards the goal, but the Belgian goalkeeper succeeded in converting it into a corner, before then tackling a dangerous shot from the player himself.

The remaining minutes did not result in a new match for the penalty shootout, which smiled in favour of the royal club.

Saúl and Thomas Partey wasted Atlético's first two kicks before Trippier scored, while Dani Carvajal, Rodrigo and Sergio Ramos scored for Real Madrid.

This is the 11th time Real Madrid have achieved the Spanish Super And it is the first final to end with a penalty shootout.
